The insulation is a closed cell wrap that prevents condensation forming on the cold refrigerant lines and reduces heat loss along the run. High-grade copper is essential for durability in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. 

Insulation is generally designed to be flexible and resistant to abrasions for easier installation. This keeps the system efficient and stops water dripping from the pipework. The suction line transports low-pressure gas back from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit. 

Inspect the exterior insulation regularly for signs of damage. Seal any cut ends tightly to prevent moisture penetration and corrosion.
